Do or Die is Here.
Its been a long road, but we finally got it done. The debut LP from myself produced entirely but my partner in crime Absolute. Its funny because we decided we were going to do an album about 3 years ago, and eventually shelved the whole idea. Once we decided to pick it back up, we scrapped all of the old music and started fresh. I feel that this is easily our best work yet. collectively and individually.
This Lp means a lot to me personally. Its my most personal project to date. Sometimes hiphop can let you know you're in a certain space and really bring it out of you artistically. Thats exactly what happened with Do or Die. Myself and Absolute just came off of working on the Power EP, which was a completely clean sort of worldly hip-hop project. There was no profanity, and a lot of uplifting themes in that EP. I was very proud of it, still am., But it didn't really catch on too well. In my opinion, It didn't get a lot of listeners or attention at all. I was doing a lot of with the EP and putting work into promoting it thru positivity and charity but people just weren't very responsive to it. Through all of the frustration of lack of attention from such a strong and positive project, I started writing for Do or Die.

writing the beginning stages of "Do or Die" |
This time I wasn't going to filter myself. I wasn't going to sensor myself. I wanted to show the listener who I am and what I come from that allows me to be that person. I'm imperfect and contradicting. I'm very human. Im compassionate and carless. Im positive and negative. But its all part of who I am and what I struggle with. the good side and bad side. I wanted people to understand that making "conscious" music isn't just about making uplifting
empowering songs. Sometimes we battle with our own conscious.
I went back to my hometown a lot in the process of writing Do or Die. I think that's why its such a personal project. Going home reminded me of things I've forgotten, People who have faded from memory and lessons that Ive kept with me all of these years. Its scary thinking that one day I can completely forget a memory I once had. So writing it in the music was Important. It immortalizes space and time in a sense.

Ive never felt so fulfilled after completing a project. Everything came together perfectly. Absolute was the perfect producer for the job. Our understanding of each others craft and direction is eye to eye. We just get it. He knows my sound as do I him, and it brings something incredible to the table every time. He's a career defining producer as far as I'm concerned. Ab is my brother, and Im glad that after 3 years of talking about it, through all of the setbacks and multiple cases of writers block we finally got it done.

So without further a due Here it is.
